National Food Strategy (Part One)

Part One of the two-part National Food Strategy contains urgent recommendations to support this country through the turbulence caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and to prepare for the end of the EU exit transition period on 31 December 2020.   It focuses on making sure a generation of our most disadvantaged children do not get left behind, and grasping the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to decide what kind of trading nation we want to be.

Balancing the Risks of Pupils Returning to Schools

As we move into a phase of continuously reviewing decisions to keep schools open or shut, we need to recognise there are risks from having schools open and risks from having schools shut. In open schools, the risks to pupils themselves from COVID-19 are very low, though there are risks to school staff, parents/carers and the wider community.   Closing schools causes loss of learning and deterioration in children’s mental and physical health, for example. Great School Libraries Survey Findings and Update on Phase 1

Insights and Inspiration – Exploring the impact of guest speakers in schools

Teachers teach because they care about young people and the futures they will have. Their passion is an investment in potential.
